Erik Buell began designing innovatively designed bikes around the Harley Davidson's Sporster in the 1980's and within a year was winning races with his redesigned racers.
Buell quickly gained the attention of the Harley Davidson company who purchased a controlling interest in the company by 1993 and total ownership by 1998. The Buell is known for it's light feel and almost naked look.
