In 1909, Michio Suzuki founded the Suzuki Loom Company in the small seacoast village of Hamamatsu, Japan. And for the first 30 years focus solely on producing the best Looms possible. But in the mid 1930's Suzuki decided to diversify and decided to build automobiles and by 1937 had several prototypes and was ready to begin production when World War II began.
After the war, Suzuki went back to producing looms. But when the cotton market collapsed in 1951, the 36cc Suzuki Power Free two stroke engine was born in 1952 and by 1954 was producing 6000 motorcycles a month.
Suzuki has come far in the U.S. market since the first line of small, inexpensive, lightweight motorcycles went on sale here in 1963. Suzuki is now one of the top motorcycle makers and offers a complete line of advanced street, off-road and race-winning machines.
